Isles of Scilly 2020

My three weeks on ​the Isles of Scilly were as packed full with wildlife as ever this year. A new (and surprising) addition to the islands were the three black swans, which have apparently come over from Dawlish. They must be used to people on the south coast of Devon, because they were unusually tame to the picnic goers on the beach despite their slightly daunting size.
As always, I spent a lot of time in Tresco’s Abbey Gardens taking photos of the red squirrels, whose population seems to be thriving as ever. It's great to just stand and wait near their feeding stations, watching people walk past as they have their first experience of the species. I find it amazing how a species so historically native to the country can now seem so exotic to people, mainly just because of their endangered status.
In addition to my photos, this year I tried to get some film footage and I’m hoping to edit those bits together – so watch this space for a potential short Scilly wildlife video!
